18 days and counting...Packing for our 12 day journey in Ethiopia.  Excited , anxious, resting in the Sovereignty of God Almighty!

TUESDAY - December 14, 2010
Many children are starting to count down the days to Christmas.  For us, we are counting down the days until we can see our "Baby Ethi" in person.  Since last week, many plans have been made.  On Friday, January 28th we will head to Dallas to start our 18 hour plan trip to Ethiopia.  We are excited that Charlsie Andreason has decide to go along and help us.  We are going to need all the help we can get with 8 bags and two children.  We have made our housing reservations and are looking forward to our trip.  On the first trip we will be able to:

  • See and meet "Baby Ethi"for about 1 hour each day.  At this time we are coming into the orphanage just as guest not as Mommy (eh NAHT) and Daddy (eh BY).
  • Tour the county
  • Participate in a coffee ceremony
  • Meet and encourage the orphanage staff
  • Appear before the court on February 4th
When we appear in court and they have granted us the honor of adopting "Baby Ethi" we will find out when our second trip will be.  On the second trip Marla and I will go alone and this will be the time we can bring "Baby Ethi" home.

We are getting weekly updates on "Baby Ethi."  She is petite and beautiful but is doing very well.  If you would like to see a picture of her, please contact Marla or myself.  Marla - marlakuykendall@gmail.com or Mark - mark@bethelbible.com

We have been waiting for this day for a long time.  We have finally received our court date in Ethiopia. On Friday, February 4, 2011 (unless something changes) we will be standing in court with tear filled eyes taking a huge step to bring our little girl home.  Until that time we can't post her name or pictures.  Time to make travel arrangements!!!!

MONDAY - October 4, 2010
TODAY IS THE DAY!  We accepted our referral today.  We now have a sweet little girl, we will call her "Baby Ethi" until we pass our court date.  We can't wait to post her pictures.  She is absolutely precious and has the prettiest eyes.  We are hoping to travel for our first visit in the next 2-3 months.

FRIDAY - May 28, 2010
Today was a big day for the Kuykendalls.  This morning about 10am we had our official phone conversation with our Gladney representative.  We are officially on wait list for a little girl between the ages of 2-4.  We were told today the wait could be anywhere between 2 and 4 months.  The home in Ethiopia has been contacted that we are ready.  This is great news and we can't wait.

FRIDAY - MAY 21, 2010
Today has been a day we have been looking forward to.  Today our homestudy was completed and approved.  So as of today we are back on the referral list which means we are now waiting to be matched with a child.  Since we are requesting a child between the ages of 2 and 4 the wait should not be long.

WEDNESDAY - APRIL 7, 2010
Our home study case worker came today and is now able to update our home study.  I asked her is she knew about any kind of time table for the completion of the Home Study.  This was her response.  "Well I do not know for sure but I have received three calls from people asking if I had completed the Kuykendall's Home Study.  I believe they all ready have a little girl to match you with."
We could not be more excited!
